The Pin Oaks Story

Our founder grew up in a family where dogs were simply part of life — there have always been dogs at her side. That love travelled with her around the world, caring for dogs along the way in Scotland and Italy.

Together with her mother, she found an eight-acre, tree-filled smallholding in Mnandi and set about creating boarding kennels to one standard only: a place they would be genuinely happy to leave their own dogs. Every kennel was crafted with personal attention — walled for calm, heated for winter, shaded by massive trees for summer.

Experience with their own dogs led the family to look for a more natural approach to feeding. The founder’s mother immersed herself in canine nutrition and settled on the BARF diet developed by Dr Ian Billinghurst. On the new diet, their own dogs became visibly healthier.

Kennel guests were soon fed the same food — and many went home in better condition than they arrived. Owners noticed. They began asking to buy the food for home, and Pin Oaks Food grew from there: made by us, fed to our own dogs first.
